D&F desiccant bags protect packed products from corrosion during transport and storage, from mould growth and other damages due to moisture.
A desiccant unit (=DME) shows the water absorption capacity, in balance with air of 23 ̊C ± 2 ̊C.  A desiccant unit must at least absorb the following amount of water vapor: 3.0 grams at 20% RV and 6.0 grams at 40% RV.

A formula given in DIN 55 474 explains the calculation of the required number of desiccant units per package. We have shortened the formula to simplify the calculation. The following numbers of desiccant units are needed per square meter of the barrier material. See table below.
